This is Part 4/4 of my journey leading up to starting Sophie Society (check out my previous posts if you’re interested in the story so far).
Sophie Society came out of one of the worst business seasons of my life. Another one of my businesses (an Amazon tool called Judolaunch) got dragged into a hostile takeover mess and a brutal legal battle in New York. I had to shut the company down.
That season was painful but it clarified a lot for me.
When I started Sophie Society, I wanted to build something very differently. I wanted to make a real company with values that actually shape how we work: cooperation, weirdness, fun, accountability, experimentation, humility.
That is a big part of why Sophie feels the way it feels now, and I’m super proud that its so different from all the agencies I see out there.
Its also why I care so much about helping Amazon sellers the right way with better systems and better testing. Better thinking and better execution.
A lot of what we do for brands today comes from the long road that led up to today: the weird childhood, the physics brain, the music, the failures, the wins, the collapses.
None of it was wasted. It just took a while to understand what it was building. But now we’re there I’m super proud of what my team and I built.
