Over the next 4 posts I’m going to give you a glimpse into what led to Sophie Society being created. It’s been quite the ride so far.
Here’s Part 1/4 - I grew up pretty weird…and honestly that helped.
I grew up in New Jersey in an off-grid solar house in the woods. Composting toilets, weird food and public tours of the house were all part of my daily life as a kid.
You can imagine how well that went down with other kids at school.
My dad was an entrepreneur making no money. My mom was a nurse. I got picked on a lot for being the weird kid with the weird family.
But looking back all this gave me something useful early on - because I got obsessed with how things worked.
By age 8 I was deep into physics. By 12 I’d built a giant solar reflector out of AOL CDs that could light stuff on fire in seconds. By 13 I was learning CAD and helping out on solar projects.
That was really the beginning of how I still think now: figure out the system - find the leverage point - change the outcome.
It was this mindset that I started developing back then which ended up shaping how I look at business, marketing and even Amazon.
