TikTok Shop isn't a sales channel.
It's a demand engine. And most brands are measuring it wrong.
After managing 100+ TikTok Shop accounts, here's what I kept seeing:
A brand launches on TikTok Shop. Sales come in. They look at the numbers and think "okay, decent."
Meanwhile their Amazon sales quietly spike 20%.
Their Shopify store gets a surge of branded searches.
Customers are buying — just not where brands expect them to.
TikTok generates demand.
Amazon captures high-intent searches.
Shopify owns the customer relationship.
That's not three separate businesses. That's one funnel.
But until recently, you couldn't prove it. You'd see the Amazon spike and think "huh, interesting." No attribution. No data. Just vibes.
TikTok just changed that with Off-site Performance Analysis — but I'll save that for another post.
The point is this: if you're judging TikTok Shop purely on TikTok Shop revenue, you're massively undervaluing what it's doing for your brand.
Stop measuring platforms in isolation. Start measuring the funnel.
