Last fall, a wave of skepticism hit agentic commerce. The arguments were thoughtful and worth engaging: consumers won't trust autonomous purchasing, retailers won't cede control of discovery, we've been through similar waves before. Under a certain definition of "agentic” the skeptics were probably right. Full end-to-end autonomy where the AI handles everything with no human involvement isn't here, yet.
