I'm not a shopper. So when I bought a truck bed cover through ChatGPT in 2 mins (without opening Google) I knew consumer behavior had already changed.
I wanted a trifold bed cover for my truck, under $500. So I went to ChatGPT, asked the question, and it gave me two options. I bought one. Done.
I didn't comparison-shop. Didn't open 14 listings. I didn't want to spend time on it.
Good reviews? Great, let me get it.
I bypassed all the junk in the middle because AI just handled it.
I've spent 15 years in e-commerce. And when those moments started stacking up, being deep in this industry, I knew it - this is going to change consumer behavior completely.
The consumer didn't comparison-shop. The agent did it for them.
Your product either shows up in those two options. Or it doesn't.
