AI Summaries condense product bullet points on Amazon with new to me "Summarized from product information" embedded above Brand's own bullet points.
While only on the mobile app and not desktop, I am now seeing the Top Highlights of Product Details on almost every PDP I am looking at today.
The Top Highlights appear under the PDP's Product Details and ABOVE the Brand's own bullet points.
So far it looks like the common format is 3 green check mark 1 sentence summaries with a "Summarized from product information" at the bottom with a Rufus symbol.
If you click on any of the 3 sentence summaries it will move you to Rufus and that sentence becomes your auto filled prompt/question to expand on that topic- try it out.
I asked Rufus "Where do these come summarized top highlights come from from: Summarized from product information?" and it did give me a robust reply (see image in comment).
The highlights from it's answer all support a few things:
Brands need to ensure the content is complete and accurate as top 3 sources Rufus mentions say they come from the Brands/Manufacturers. Assumed to be all onsite, but not directly mentioned if any of that Brand info is coming from offsite.
Reviews matter as patterns from reviews is mentioned.
Product attributes can't be a shortcut as that is the 5th item mentioned.
It then applied these 5 to the item I was viewing and told me that these Top highlights provide me a quick overview to understand all the key points without reading detailed specs and individual reviews.
Spencer Millerberg has taught us well that many people don't read the bullet points, but algorithms do, so curious on if people or AI Agents will pay more attention to these Top Highlights. Not to mention the potential impact on Digital Shelf tracking since now Reviews and Bullet Points are AI summarized.
