The strategy Amazon uses for fee increases:

Amazon emailed all of us about holiday fees earlier this month. Peak fees start October 15. Then one more line: the 3.5% fuel/oil and logistics surcharge they added in April applies on top.

My first thought was "Do these ever end?" My second thought was "probably not."

The last "temporary" surcharge I paid Amazon, back in 2022, never came off. The line disappeared from my statements and the cost moved into the regular FBA fee (We've been paying it ever since)

Turns out economists have a name for this busines strategy. Someone even went and measured it, and it explains why gas prices eventually come back down and our fees don't.

Monday I break down the name, why Amazon sellers are the ones stuck with it, and the one rule I'm pricing by from here on out.

Full breakdown drops Monday in the newsletter.
