What do you do when your product's price (and other details) is misrepresented by AI?
That's a situation that is becoming all the more important as consumers use surfaces like ChatGPT for shopping.
In this instance below a popular cookware brand's MSRP is $37.99, but we're tracking prices as high as $53.00 (a 40% difference in price!).
The Guardian put a piece the other day named "Poisoned’ AI: the ChatGPT shopping scams that lead to fake websites" and while the pricing situation is a bit different than straight up counterfeit scams and intentional manipulation of an algorithm, it still represents a threat to brands trying to keep brand consistency.
If a potential shopper is discovering your product for the first time on this new channel, and your price is 40% higher than it should be, what happens to click-through and conversion rates?
