ChatGPT ads are open to just about any business now, and the takes on how they perform are already everywhere.
Almost all of those numbers come from the $200K min enterprise pilot a handful of brands ran back in February. Different product. Different price than what you'd sign up for today.
So before you put a dollar in, here's what's actually known.
The price varies. I've seen $35 CPMs for B2B ads to $65+ for a CPG brand, from just $3 to $7 a click.
And you can't cleanly tell if it worked. ChatGPT is a conversation, not a click stream. Someone gets recommended your product, sits on it two days, then Googles your name and buys and Google takes the credit.
One pilot advertiser committed $250K and spent $2,500 of it in four weeks. Delivery was just broken.
So why pay attention? The self-serve version has only been rolling out the last few weeks, the minimum is basically gone, and cost-per-action bidding turns on June 5.
The barrier to entry is a credit card now. Whoever runs it and reports real numbers gets to define this while everyone else recycles pilot data. I'm testing campaigns, I'll post exactly what I see, good or bad.
And if you've already tested the self-serve version, not the pilot,I want to hear it. What did you actually get?
