The NYT, Washington Post, Bloomberg, BBC, Guardian, NPR, Fox, and 22 other publishers just filed a brief supporting Amazon in its case against Perplexity's AI shopping agent.
Why are the publishers showing up?
If agents can bypass ads on Amazon, they can bypass ads and affiliate commission everywhere. The $70B retail media model and the ad-funded and affiliate journalism model break the same way.
