Placement spend is becoming more important than ever! If your PPC agency is not looking placements by keyword, I would start asking questions... Heres why...
At AdsCrafted, I'm working on taking AI + MCP + Amazon to a new level.
Over the years, I've consultant with 100s of brands on how to use PPC as a lever to drive organic rank. Organic rank is the highest leverage ROI.
I learned how to rank on Amazon. It comes down to 2 things:
1. Highest CVR = highest rank
2. Recent SERP data to prove #1 (CVR)
When it comes to PPC, the goal is to drive the highest CVR. If you're not organically visible, then Amazon's only source of data is the PPC data you send them.
Placements are one of the largest gaps in conversion rate data. You can easily see differences of 5% - 20% in conversion rates.
This means we want to spend all of our ad spend towards top of search and rest of search, but more towards the one that converts the highest.
In the example of the attached image, I am spending 76% of my ad spend towards a 27% top of search conversion rate.
I am spending 20% of my ad spend on rest of search, which has a 12% conversion rate
My product page has been throttled to 3% of my ad spend. Product pages do not help with organic rank.
As a result my SERP conversion rate is net 22%. However if I were to push more spend towards the top of search, I could reach up to 27%.
The question is, what is that extra 5% going to do to my rank? If at 22% you're already ranking at the top, then you do not need to push further top of search spend.
However if you were hovering, say, in position 5 to 10 and you wanted to get to top 5, that extra 5% could be the extra conversion rate boost you need to hop over your competitors.
In my opinion it all comes down to the numbers.
This is all now avaliable at AdsCrafted as I work towards automating the full PPC + Organic Search funnel.
This is where the next level of Amazon AI Automation is going. AI for reasoning, automation for scalability, and MCP for efficiency.
