Most people probably scrolled past this Amazon announcement because of its name. But it’s worth a deep dive.

Amazon Ads MCP Server is now in open beta.

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets AI systems talk to external tools.

In practice, it means AI agents can now:

- Create, update, and analyze Amazon ad campaigns

- Use natural language instead of custom-built integrations

- Connect once and operate across AI platforms like ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini

MCP was introduced by Anthropic and has since been adopted by OpenAI and Google.

The simplest way I’ve heard it described: the USB-C port for AI. Instead of building dozens of one-off integrations, developers build once and any MCP-compatible AI can plug in.

Amazon didn’t invent MCP, but applying it to retail media at scale is new.

We saw this direction coming. What surprised our Dev Team is that Amazon is allowing write permissions. That’s powerful and risky. One mistake could scale fast.

Which is why developers and engineers aren’t going anywhere. But hopefully these updates translate to less time spent on repetitive tasks and more time on building and innovating.
