One of the accounts I manage recently taught me an important lesson about how fulfilment choice can make or break growth on Amazon.

The brand switched from FBA to FBM for their core products. At first, it seemed like a small operational change. But very quickly, the data started telling a different story..

Sessions dropped. Conversion rates fell. Organic rank slipped.

Why?

Because on Amazon, fulfilment is not just logistics. It directly influences visibility and sales.

FBA products get Prime badge coverage, faster shipping and more weight in the Buy Box. Amazon itself is more likely to push them. On the other hand, FBM listings often lose that edge slower shipping, less trust and weaker placement in search results.

Here is the impact we saw after the switch (comparing 30 days before vs after):

Sessions fell by more than 40%

Ad sales dropped nearly 30%

CVR dropped by 34%

It was clear that the change from FBA to FBM was holding the product back.

Amazon will always prioritise what improves customer experience fast delivery, Prime promise and reliability. That is why FBA products and vendor items get stronger visibility and support in ads and organic ranking.
