The Q4 shopping season kicks off in less than a week with Amazon’s fall Prime Event on October 7th. Don’t make the number 1 mistake most brands make for tentpole events on Amazon…

They focus too heavily on their advertising strategy at the expense of a lead-in and lead-out strategy

I recently wrote an article detailing the strategies we use Nectar (which was published by Amazon Ads) to maximize advertising and sales performance for tentpole shopping events

When it comes to preparing for these events, you need a lead-in strategy

Consumers know these events are coming

They do lots of window shopping and adding to cart in anticipation of the deals during these events

So how you build your audiences before the event can have a major impact on performance during the event

Then during the event, you want to make sure you’re deploying your budget as optimally as possible

Part of that is dictated by what your competitors are doing with their deals and spend and the other part is product performance

Once the event ends, many consumers don’t like the products they’ve purchased or they didn’t find the deal they want, but they still have a need that you can fill

Sales don’t magically stop after these events end

There are many different advertising (and promotional) strategies you can deploy to maximize sales after the event is over

In the article, I break down:

● How to run effective lead-in campaigns

● What metrics actually matter (hint: not just ROAS)

● How to pivot in real time as CPCs and conversion trends shift

● Why post-event remarketing is your most overlooked opportunity

● And how to review and refine for next time

Are you using any of these strategies?
