Amazon just put Uber Eats inside the Amazon app. Prime members in the US can now

Amazon just put Uber Eats inside the Amazon app.

Prime members in the US can now order from hundreds of thousands of restaurants with their Amazon account. $0 delivery on orders over $25. No Uber account needed.

Why would Amazon do this?

My guess:

1. Prime has to feel worth $139 a year. Free food delivery is easy to feel.

2. Food is the one thing people order several times a week. That brings shoppers back to the Amazon app daily.

3. More daily visits means more ad inventory. That is where Amazon makes its money.

4. Uber likely pays a cut per order. And it gets Prime's customer base without paying to win each person.

Amazon wants to be the app you open every day, not just when you need something.

What do you think Amazon adds next?
