If your last Amazon PPC hire did a take-home test, you may have tested ChatGPT.
We record the whole screen during our screening test. Of the tests we tracked, 2 in 5 showed signs of outside help. And those tests scored higher: 66% on average, against 60% for the clean ones.
If we looked only at the score, we would put the wrong people through.
A take-home test today tells you who has a good AI tool. That is not the same as knowing what to do when ACOS jumps on a Saturday.
What works for us:
- A timed test with the whole screen recorded.
- Questions that need a decision, not a formula.
- A live conversation after, where the candidate explains their answers. I run that interview myself.
AI is fine in the job. It is not fine in the test.
