Two months ago, one of the most traumatic things I could imagine happened to me.
There was a very early morning knock on our door. Our tiny 5 pound, 7 year old cat had been hit by a car.
Two days later, I was on the road to lead one of the largest corporate workshops I’d ever signed, for an incredible financial firm.
Two weeks after that, I canceled business travel because I was simply too distraught to go.
And now, two months later, we have a new little friend in our home and many more new friends to care for on a farm 90 minutes away.
Life is not linear.
Neither is grief. Neither is work. Neither is our capacity.
Sometimes you show up and do the thing even when you don’t feel your best. Sometimes you realize you can’t. Sometimes life expands again before you’ve fully made sense of what was lost.
And then there are days like today, walking just in front of my house, when the grief hits hard again. I remember her tiny little paws and her loud, simple love.
There is no clean progression through any of it. Just ebbs and flows, expansion and contraction, showing up and stepping back.
Sending love to each of you navigating your own ebbs and flows today.
