Bold prediction: In the near future, success on Amazon won't depend on perfecting your SEO. In fact, you might be better off lighting a pile of cash on fire than investing in a content writing agency that specializes in "the Amazon algorithm".
The future of Amazon is hyper-personalized.
When a customer searches for a product, it's likely that their search results will be customized specifically for them.
We are already seeing it with ads.
We see it in the order of products that are being shown to different customers.
We see it with push for Alexa Shopping adoption.
Why wouldn't Amazon take a similar approach with titles?
Instead of brands asking "What title performs best"
Amazon is going to be asking "What combination of keywords will drive the highest CTR for each individual customer".
Beyond titles, I could also see them taking a similar approach with bullet points.
Assuming generic bullet points are even needed in a conversational model 🤷♀️
Does this mean brands will "lose control" of their brand on Amazon? Absolutely not.
If anything, I could see Amazon providing many more creative opportunities.
I expect a massive up-level in what we are able to do with PDP's and store pages, as well as continued expansion of our advertising opportunities.
Final thought 💭
The brands of the past won by understanding, and even exploiting, the algorithm. But in a world of hyper personalization, algo hacking won't be enough.
Brands will earn attention by being genuinely relevant and differentiated.
