Here’s the bigger picture behind Amazon’s recent algorithm changes.

What’s happening in Sponsored Ads is part of a larger trend: platforms moving from advertiser-controlled levers to algorithm-driven automation.

Auto campaigns are gaining impressions. Broad match is expanding. Another hypothesis we’re testing: favoring of dynamic up-and-down bidding.

Algorithms today are the worst they’ll ever be. They will only improve from here. Over time, automation could outperform manual controls, freeing advertisers to spend less time on mechanics and more on strategy.

That’s where the competitive edge will come from: strategy, product knowledge, and audience insights.
