Chinese Amazon sellers now have to pay taxes!
The Chinese government is requesting Amazon give revenue numbers. And for the first time, Amazon will be handing over revenue and entity information back.
CONTEXT
Chinese sellers are a dominant force on international marketplaces and haven't had to report revenues to their government. This would leave them unable to disclose revenues and profits.
That's about to change.
While many US-based sellers have been clamoring for Amazon to even the playing field, it looks like it's the Chinese government that is taking this step. US sellers have been paying full taxes for years, and it has felt like an unfair playing field.
Will this change how US sellers feel? Not likely.
But it's a step.
This news is not reported on the US sellers portal, but only to sellers based in China. If you want to keep up with news related to Chinese sellers, I suggest you subscribe to the very information "Chinese Sellers" substack.
