Two hours.

That’s how long it took me to change the batteries on my Blink (Amazon-owned) cameras today.

A job that should’ve taken 15 minutes.

Out of 12 cameras, only 7 worked.

The other 5? Deleted, re-added, reconfigured from scratch.

One refused to connect. Another insisted it was already installed when it wasn’t.

Every 3 months, same nightmare.

And it raises the question: how is Amazon this successful when their products are so bad?

Alexa can’t handle questions that ChatGPT answers in seconds.

Kindle’s software still feels like Windows 95.

Blink makes me want to throw the cameras out the window.

Yet Amazon is one of the most valuable companies on Earth.

How?

The answer? Infrastructure.

They built the rails that everything else runs on:

• Fulfillment that gets you anything in 1–2 days.

• AWS that makes your software run without you ever thinking about servers.

That’s their moat. Their hardware and software can be mediocre, but their infrastructure is untouchable.

And if you own the rails, every other flaw becomes irrelevant.
