What Amazon’s new parentage editor means for variations. After a long time doing

What Amazon’s new parentage editor means for variations.
After a long time doing this with flat files, support cases, and crossed fingers to fix one variation family, Amazon now lets us edit and ungroup variations straight from Manage Inventory.
Still, ghost parentage issues are the kind of mess that eats weeks to untangle, so this new option makes me more cautious than excited.
Because using it without care could create problems I have not seen yet, like Amazon flagging that the same variation was grouped and ungrouped too many times, I do not trust it yet.
And here is the funny part, since the fix now lives right in the Amazon dashboard and I still do not trust the variation wizard enough to retire my flat files, which tells you how many years of scars are behind that spreadsheet.
So I will probably keep using flat files, since I can read every row before it goes live and know it is not just a UI change.
Then, creating a family looks like the low-risk side of this for now, while separating one is where I would slow down and be careful.
Also, rollback is my biggest question, because if an edit breaks a family, a faster interface does not help when restoring the old relationships still takes weeks.
I am curious about reviews too, since they follow how a family is built, and I have not seen Amazon explain what an edit does to them.
Until those answers show up, I see it as a nice option to have.
Hope this saves you some time.
