Black Friday's nearly here, and with it my least favourite Amazon tradition.. judging peak on the sales graph.
The graph will look great. It always does.
The problem is a big chunk of what peak costs doesn't turn up until January. Deal fees, promo funding, the chargebacks from rushed shipments, the returns from people who bought on impulse at 11pm.
By the time it all lands, everyone's moved on, the "record week!" email has gone round, and nobody fancies being the one who says "actually, that deal lost us money."
So my small ask for this year. Before peak, write down what each deal is supposed to make you after funding. Then at the end of January, go back and check it. Not the sales. The margin.
It's not the most festive spreadsheet you'll ever build. But it's the only way you'll know which deals to run again next year, and which ones were just very expensive fun.
