Bidding more won’t fix your ranking problem. I know that’s not what most agencie

Bidding more won’t fix your ranking problem.

I know that’s not what most agencies tell you...

One brand came to us after their agency told them the only way to grow was to spend more.

They were already at 12% TACoS.

And they still couldn’t grow.

So we skipped the keyword list and went straight to the search terms.

Almost $40,000 a month was going to their branded terms alone.

That’s the sneaky part.

ACoS and ROAS can look great on branded, so nobody questions it.

But they were paying to reach shoppers who already knew and liked the product.

That’s not growth. That’s cannibalization.

So we...

→ Cut branded spend from $39,496 to $13,824 a month (still spending on it, just not everything)

→ Shifted most of the spend to non-branded

→ Built the right ranking campaign structure

Branded ACoS actually dropped too... from 14.3% to 9.5%.

TACoS is still below 12%.

And they’ve grown 30% year over year for the past 3 months instead of sitting flat.

(That’s the real before and after in the video 👇)

Cannibalization is just one of the 3 traps I see over and over:

1. The conversion rate trap: pushing your “top keyword” when your product doesn’t convert on it. You waste spend and the algorithm never gets the signals it needs to help you rank.

2. The irrelevant traffic leak: broad match on “baby blanket” pulling in crochet yarn, muslin, even baby socks. ACoS looks fine, so you raise the bid... and pay more for the junk too.

3. Keyword cannibalization: great-looking numbers, zero growth.

So before you raise another bid, ask:

→ Does my product actually convert on this keyword?

→ Is this traffic relevant, or just cheap?

→ Am I growing, or just paying for shoppers who already know me?

A bigger bid doesn’t fix the wrong target.

We put together a free audit tool to help you find these in your own account.

Comment AUDIT and I’ll send it over.
