Amazon now gives us more return reasons for partial refunds. FBA Partial Refunds

Amazon now gives us more return reasons for partial refunds.

FBA Partial Refunds now lets you choose which return reasons qualify, instead of offering the same deal on every return.

So I went through the settings page and the help doc and pulled out what matters before you touch anything, since a simple refund setting depends on your math, return-rate impact, and which orders actually qualify for you.

You can enable it for all ASINs with up to three configurations, each with its own refund percentage by return reason, or upload an Excel file listing the exact ASINs and reasons you want included, and anything left out follows the normal return process.

Note: The refund percentage is calculated on the original list price, with promotional discounts not deducted, so it’s worth checking the math against what customers really paid.

Partial refunds still count as returns toward the ASIN’s return rate and the frequently returned badge, although the high return rate fee is not charged when the customer keeps the item.

It is also worth mentioning that Amazon doesn’t reimburse you for the refund itself, and hazmat, hygiene products, and items that are not returnable are not eligible, which is worth a look if your catalog leans toward consumables.

Amazon also reviews each customer’s profile and purchase history first, so some returns will still go back to a fulfillment center, and if a customer returns the item later, the partial amount is deducted from their refund.

Changes apply only to returns created after you enable them, and Amazon asks for up to 24 hours before you contact support if something looks off.

To find it:

Go to the settings gear ➡️ Fulfillment by Amazon ➡️ FBA returns evaluations amp; ownership settings ➡️ click Edit next to Partial refunds. To confirm the final outcome, check the Return status column in FBA Returns after 58 days for US orders or 45 days for EU orders, and keep an eye out for the monthly performance report in your inbox.

That’s the settings page and the help doc, sorted, so you can decide whether this makes sense for your catalog without piecing together Amazon’s rules yourself.
