Why Shopify CRO needs a five person team. Amazon CRO needs a login.

Here's the Tea ☕ *Whispers* Amazon CRO is easy vs Shopify or a DTC site (sorry AMZ Agencies).

I am deep into CRO for my webiste, as it needs improving for The Catnip Queen Shopify Store.

To be good at this stuff you need. A culture of experimentation. Hypothesis backlogs. Prioritisation frameworks. Heatmaps, session recordings, on site surveys etc.

Also there are more AI tools to aid you with your CRO than you can shake a stick at...

Then the team that is needed: a CRO manager, a data analyst, a designer, a copywriter and a developer.

#TIP I realise the Claude Shopify plug in and Claude Code is saving me a fortune for those tweaks to the theme.

All of this to run CRO properly on your own website.

Jeff Bezos said "Amazon's success comes down to how many experiments it runs."

He wasn't joking. He ran them so you don't have to.

None of which your Amazon agency did either!

Checkout, layout, trust signals, delivery promise, one tap buy. All tested millions of times before you listed a single ASIN.

What's left for you to optimise on Amazon is a short list:

> Main image and gallery

> Title and bullets

> A+ content and video

> Price, coupons and deals

> Brand Store

And Manage Your Experiments lets you test several of those without a developer in sight.

Here's the catch.

You can't touch the checkout. You can't remove the competitor ads sitting on your own listing either!

No heatmaps, no exit surveys, and very little customer data you actually own.

On Shopify you own the whole funnel. And the whole bill... 😅

So the question isn't which is easier. Amazon is easier to convert. Shopify is easier to own.

The brands that win use Amazon to perfect the offer and Shopify to build the relationship and understand the customer more.

Same positioning, two very different jobs.

Where are you spending your optimisation hours right now, and is it the channel that actually needs them?
