You change one thing on a listing and somehow end up digging through Amazon policy.

You edit a PDP on Monday, everything processes clean, no errors, no warnings, and by Thursday the ASIN is suppressed and your Buy Box is gone, so you go back into flat files and start debugging data that was never broken in the first place.

The thing nobody tells you is that Amazon runs two evaluations on the same action: the catalog decides if your data is valid and the compliance core decides if your action was legitimate, and those two verdicts are completely different things, which is exactly why the symptom shows up in one place and the cause sits somewhere you never thought to look.

You already know your product better than anyone, you formulated it, sourced it, and built the brand around it, and somewhere along the way the job quietly turned into needing a minor in Amazon policy interpretation just to keep a listing alive, which is a strange requirement for a business that sells supplements.

So instead of guessing, the move is reading the system in order, conduct first, then what Amazon already recorded, then the data, because each one eliminates an entire class of causes before you waste a week on the next.

In this special edition of OSS Lab, we broke down the 3 Code of Conduct rules that actually carry operational weight in catalog work, how Account Health weighting decides what you fix first, and a 5 phase sequence that walks the evidence backward from symptom to root cause.

That includes the 15% of cases where a performance notification lands in your inbox and never appears in the dashboard, or the other way around, which is how operators end up chasing a data problem on a listing that was disabled for policy reasons.

Hope this saves you some time, and a few days of flat file debugging!
