Prime Big Deal Days is not just Prime Day in a different font.

Prime Big Deal Days is not just Prime Day in a different font.

Treating it like the same event means you will probably bring the wrong plan into October.

Here’s what we’re already seeing across accounts:

→ CPCs in several CPG and home subcategories are up 12–28% compared to mid-August.

→ Coupon stacking on top of Lightning-style deals can destroy your contribution margin if you’re still calculating profitability based only on the headline discount.

→ The Featured Offer is changing hands faster, especially on ASINs with multiple sellers.

→ Only 61% of last Prime Day’s converting search terms overlap with the converting query set for this event.

→ Twenty days of inventory coverage may look fine at the account level, but not when the entire promotion depends on one hero SKU.

Amazon will probably publish another “record-breaking” GMV number.

That is not the number we need to compete against.

Our job is to understand the specific mechanics of this event, protect profitability and make sure the business comes out stronger on the other side.

Here’s what we’re telling clients this week:

→ Rebuild contribution margins using the actual stacked discount, not just the advertised percentage off.

→ Check the Featured Offer hourly on every deal SKU.

→ Do not copy and paste your Prime Day exact-match list without a plan to harvest new search terms.

→ Keep at least one non-deal SKU active so the brand does not become nothing more than a discounted URL.

→ Start accounting for post-event rank recovery in the forecast now.

That 61% query overlap is the number that should get your attention.

Almost four out of every ten converting search terms will either be new or significantly more important during this event.

If your exact-match list has been frozen since July, you will miss a meaningful part of that demand during the first 36 hours.

Harvest daily while the event is happening.

Do not wait until the recap to figure out what worked.

Prime Big Deal Days is a real event.

The copy-and-paste strategy is not.

If your entire brief says, “Same plan as July, plus 15% more budget,” that is not a strategy.

That is a guess with a calendar invite.
