Walmart does not run on Amazon's Q4 calendar.
Most Walmart Connect plans still do.
The pattern is common.
The Amazon plan gets built first.
Then someone copies the dates into a Walmart tab and scales the budget down.
But Walmart's Black Friday does not usually start when Amazon's does.
Last year, Walmart opened its first Black Friday event about two weeks before Black Friday.
Amazon's Black Friday Week typically opens about a week before.
Neither has announced 2026 dates yet.
If the pattern holds, the Walmart ramp starts earlier.
The shopper is different too.
A lot of Walmart orders are baskets.
Household restocks, groceries, and one or two other items in the same cart, often for pickup or delivery.
Your product is competing for a spot in a basket, not only a spot on a search page.
Two years ago, a home brand ran Walmart on the Amazon calendar.
Budgets stayed at September levels through Walmart's first event.
They ramped in the week of Black Friday, right when CPC on their main terms was at its highest.
Walmart revenue for the holiday period came in 19% under the prior year.
Last year we rebuilt the plan around Walmart's own events:
→ A Walmart calendar built from Walmart's announcements, not Amazon's.
→ A budget ramp that starts with Walmart's first event.
→ A separate Walmart budget, so Amazon cannot drain a shared "Q4 bucket."
→ Inventory checked for Walmart before the early event, not before Amazon's.
→ Results read against Walmart's event windows.
Same brand.
Same catalog.
Walmart Q4 revenue was up 31% year over year, with average CPC 12% lower.
The budget showed up while the auction was still cheap.
This year we already have the Walmart plan built on last year's shape.
When Walmart announces its dates, we move the ramp to match.
We do not wait for Amazon to tell us when Walmart starts.
Walmart is not a smaller Amazon.
It is a different store with its own calendar.
