Summer brings higher fees for meltable inventory in Amazon's FBA storage. With the deadline for removal set for April 15th, 2024, sellers are advised to evaluate their stock to avoid excess meltable items that could incur additional fees due to summer heat. Options include checking for meltable items, running deals to clear inventory, or requesting removal or exemption for heat-resistant products.

Don't Let Your Summer Stock Become a Sticky Situation

The summer brings sunshine and opportunity but also presents increased fees for meltable inventory. The deadline to remove your meltable inventory from FBA storage is creeping closer, April 15th, 2024, to be exact. But there are reasons why this reminder is important.

Removing is more expensive this year than a year ago, and if you choose to sell out, you will incur low inventory fees per unit you sell below your 28-day average level. FBA stops receiving meltables from April 15th to October 15th every year. This means sellers should evaluate inventory so as not to get caught with too much stock of meltable items, or you can risk them becoming casualties of summer heat and additional fees (higher in 2024 ⚠️).

Amazon warehouses are basically giant ovens this time of year, reaching up to 155 degrees Fahrenheit, so products like chocolates, gummies, and wax candles must withstand these temperatures. If you think your product is a heat hero and can withstand summer temperatures, you should submit a manufacturer letter for an exemption so you can continue selling.

So here are some options to avoid a melty mess:

👀 Check the list of meltable ASINs and see if any of your offerings fall under the meltable category.

🏷️ Run Hot Deals (Literally) to clear your meltable inventory before the deadline.

📋 Request Removal (or an Exemption) If you need to remove stock or think yours is heat-resistant.

Optimizing inventory management for this season is key to avoid getting caught on fees and lost inventory due to seasonal restrictions on meltable products.
