Do you have the right variation ad strategy?
When it comes to Amazon advertising, separate listings and variations can significantly impact your visibility and ad performance.
Here's what you need to know:
1) Separate Listings vs. Variations: With separate listings, you can get both an ad spot and an organic spot for each listing. However, if you have variations under a single listing, only one variation can show at a time. This could limit your visibility.
2) Competing Against Yourself? Using the same keywords across different listings within the same Amazon account won't cause you to compete against yourself in terms of bids. This means your own bids won't drive up the cost. However, if you operate multiple accounts with separate logins for different brands, you might end up competing against yourself.
3) Account Consolidation: I often get asked by brands whether they should consolidate their listings within one account. While there are pros and cons to both approaches, avoiding internal competition is a significant factor that could influence this decision.
Also due to the way the ad sales get attributed if you don't know know these nuances you can end up drawing false conclusion when analyzing variation listings at a SKU or child ASIN level.
