Sponsored Products and Sponsored Brands are becoming AI-powered product experts.
Yesterday, we were talking about how AI agents were landing in Amazon ads, and now that is pairing up with one of the upgrades I have been calling for months, since AI became a thing on Amazon.
The beta release of Sponsored Products & Sponsored Brands Instructions, a new conversational, AI-driven layer that automatically answers shopper questions inside your existing ads at no cost, while Amazon's systems learn and optimize performance.
Here’s what actually launched:
Amazon’s AI now reads everything:
your product detail pages,
your Brand Store,
your campaign data,
your catalog signals.
Then it builds “instructions”, short, precise, context-aware answers that appear before the shopper even asks the question.
So, yes, it’s essentially a 24/7 virtual product expert embedded inside your Sponsored Products and Sponsored Brands campaigns.
If a shopper hesitates:
“Does this fit my model?”
“Is this safe for kids?”
“What’s the size?”
…the AI surfaces answers instantly.
No prompt from the shopper. No keyword search. No back-and-forth.
And the part most sellers haven’t realized yet:
Your ads are now sponsoring AI-generated prompts.
Not keywords.
Not user queries.
Amazon’s queries.
The system predicts what a shopper might ask next, generates the question itself, and decides which of your ads should pay to answer it.
This is the logical continuation of what Rufus started, connecting a product with the intent, while Instructions monetize it.
For Amazon, it solves one of the biggest gaps in the AI shopping experience:
“How do we serve ads inside a chat flow without breaking the UX?”
Now they have the answer:
Let the AI generate the prompt → Match it to an ad → Display a pre-verified response → Accelerate the purchase.
Smart for Amazon, but disruptive for advertisers.
Because this shift means:
• Your detail page becomes the source of truth for ad relevance
• Your structured data controls whether Amazon can “understand” your product
• The strength of your content will determine whether your ad is selected to sponsor a prompt you didn’t create
This is the beginning of prompt-level advertising, and it’s happening inside your campaigns today, with automatic enrollment and no new setup required.
You can review all the prompts in the Ads Console soon, under:
Campaign → Ad group → Ads → Instructions
Performance reporting goes live by the end of November.
My take?
We all saw this coming. Once Amazon rebuilt search around AI, the next step was to rebuild ads around the questions AI creates.
And now that moment has arrived.
The keyword era isn’t over, but the intent-modeling era has started.
What do you think, exciting, concerning, or both?
