Emma Schermer Tamir's a friend and colleague of ours who consistently puts out solid brand perspective and strategy advice we value in her work at Marketing by Emma.
I wanted to reshare her recent video on massive over-reliance on AI in brand marketing ops. Listen to the whole video, like I did!
She highlights key points anyone who promotes products or creates brand awareness should consume, especially around asking AI for advice on delicate situations like product safety and compliance matters, as Leah McHugh can tell you too.
As Emma emphasizes, faster and cheaper and easier isn't always better.
We all like to save a few bucks where we can, in any part of our operations. But is AI-only the way to go for everything Amazon you do?
And of course, if everyone's using the same AI tools for the same promo content, we all look and sound the same... when we're trying to stand out!
That's what most of marketing is, right? Separating yourself from the crowd of noisemakers, not just blending in with it.
As always, we need the silver lining. Those who are willing to think this through and strategize properly, you can stand out instead of blending in.
No one's telling you to ignore or fear the use of AI tools, which would be a pointless exercise anyway.
Use it wisely and with thought into what it's best for and what it isn't. For example, drafting that escalation email to Andy Jassy, Jeff Bezos, Amazon's General Counsel, etc.. is that a good time to use AI?
Isn't that when you don't want to blend in at all, when you're seeking extra care and some special attention to your case? Why slop them into ignoring you? DM us, if you've tried, and failed, to use AI for escalations.
