This is a hard one...

One of my friends and past podcast guests, Adam Robinson, and his family passed away yesterday in a plane crash in West Palm Beach, Florida.

I saw the crash on Instagram, and it was horrendous to watch, but I never, never thought it would be someone I knew, respected, and worked with.

Adam and I recorded a three-part series for my podcast, because one conversation wasn’t nearly enough. He walked away from Wall Street because he wanted to build something meaningful, and he never stopped building. He failed, rebuilt, and kept going until GetEmails took off. He was sharp, funny, generous with what he knew, and so excited about his work that it was contagious.

What stuck with me most was how much family meant to him. He talked with real pride about the loving home he grew up in. When I asked who he’d have dinner with, dead or alive, one of his answers was his great-grandparents, because he wanted to hear their story.

He also told me he regretted not connecting with people more earlier in his career, and that a great conversation with smart people always left him inspired. That hits completely differently now.

I’ve said this for a long time: please hug more and love more. You never know when it’s your time. I wish I had reached out, supported him, and talked with him more, but now that opportunity is gone.

Rest In Power, my friend. You will be missed dearly.
