I disappeared from LinkedIn for 2 years.
A month ago I came back and started posting almost every day.
This morning I had Claude run my profile against a new study of 116,000+ LinkedIn posts.
Here's what it found:
> My posts about me beat my posts giving advice. 84 median reactions vs 37. Almost 4x the impressions.
> My offer posts flopped every time I wrote them as advice. When I told the same idea as a story ("one post booked me 7 meetings"), it worked.
> One of my favorite stories got 194 impressions because I posted it right next to a big one. Oops. 😅
> And a bunch of other stuff that surprised me honestly.
The study backed most of it up. Personal stories, images, starting with "I".
But a study like that only counts what is visible.
It doesn't count meetings. Or other outcomes you want.
I'm not going viral most days. But I've had about 20 sales-qualified meetings on my calendar since coming back. In a month. After 2 years gone.
I used to track this obsessively. Some of my "worst" posts were my best ones, because they got people to do the thing I actually wanted. A link costs you reactions. Sometimes that's a great trade.
There are people going viral every week who aren't booking anything. I know because most of my sales calls are around this & half of my career was built around it.
So optimize for the action you want.
People will get mad about how you post - especially on LinkedIn 😂. That's fine.
If you're booking meetings when you talk about your dog, and it lights you up, keep talking about your dog.
