Amazon just plugged its ad engine into OpenAI’s ChatGPT

Amazon Ads Partners and OpenAI announced a partnership today that lets advertisers push their Amazon DSP campaigns into a conversational ad experience inside ChatGPT. It's a pilot right now, US-only, with Delta Vacations as one of the first brands testing it.

Here's the part The CPG Guys are focused on: Amazon's real advantage was never the storefront. It's the shopping and browsing data sitting behind it. This deal means that data can now show up while someone's mid-conversation with ChatGPT, not just when they're searching or scrolling a product page.

For CPG brands, that's a new moment to plan for. Someone asks ChatGPT to help pick a stroller or compare protein powders, and now there's a path for an Amazon-powered ad to land right in that exchange.

Genuinely not sure yet whether this is Amazon getting ahead of where attention is headed, or Amazon protecting ad revenue before OpenAI builds its own commerce layer. Probably both.

Either way — retail media and search teams should be talking to each other about this right now, and in a lot of orgs we don't think they are yet. #retailmedia #commercemarketing #omnicommerce
