One of the brands we work with lost a month on its best selling product this year because of a compliance flag that was simply wrong.
The platform pulled the listing over an ingredient claim. The claim did not appear on the listing, not in the title, not in the bullets, not in the A plus content, and when we went back and asked them to point at it, nobody could. The brand pushed back and won, which sounds like a good outcome and mostly was.
The damage had already happened by then though. The moment a listing goes down the stock sitting in the warehouse gets moved to unfulfillable, and then it gets removed, so by the time the flag was lifted the units were in a box somewhere in transit rather than on a shelf ready to sell. A best seller went out of stock, and going out of stock costs you rate of sale, and losing rate of sale costs you organic rank, so the product came back to a materially worse position than the one it left. Every other number in the account looked worse that month as a knock on, which made the reporting conversation an odd one to have.
What I took from it is that the appeal is the easy part and the logistics are the expensive part. If a listing gets flagged, the first call is not the appeal, it is getting the stock out of the removal queue before the platform makes that decision for you.
