Is LinkedIn still relevant?

Bold question to ask on Linkedin, I know

But I have been analyzing cultural resonance across social media platforms lately, and with the exception of Boomers, LinkedIn scores really low amongst younger generations

Meaning, young people don't really think it connects with their identities, values, passions or emotions in any deep way

Grant it, Linkedin serves a very functional purpose (career, work) and those areas already have low emotional engagement

But it makes me think that LinkedIn needs a generational reboot, especially if it wants to keep advertising and recruiting dollars

On the flipside, Instagram is crushing it with Gen Z and Millennials

I think that's because Instagram is a place where people talk about work and career, amongst other things so it feels more wholly part of your life

Maybe this is why we're seeing such a push by LI to bring on creators from other platforms and why they're pushing for more video

Maybe it's also way they're cracking down on AI to fuel the authenticity and unpolished realness Gen Z appreciates

At any rate, LinkedIn needs more young voices here to shake things up
