I went back to work exactly two days after giving birth to my daughter.

I told myself I was just bored. I told myself my brain needed the dopamine hit of deep creative work because healing in bed was too slow.

But if I am being completely honest, I was just trapped in the entrepreneur mindset.

For the first three months, I was stuck in the house healing and feeling like my baby was constantly "in the way" of my business. Every single day, I found myself just waiting for her next nap so I could finally work again.

Then, when she turned 7 months old, we took a two-month trip to Taiwan and Japan.

Away from the usual routine, everything changed. I watched her personality start to bloom, and I started to truly love her more and enjoy her more. Looking at her, I thought: What am I doing with my life? She will never be this small again.

I realized my mindset was completely backwards. I was trying to fit motherhood into the cracks of my business and my old self, instead of moving forward and building my life around my family.

So, I made a choice to lay low with the work. I chose to completely restructure my mindset to be a mother first, and a business owner second in this season of my life.

Now, she is 11 months old. I spend 100% of my days with her, being intentional with her activities and watching her grow. Seeing all the new things she learns from day-to-day is so exciting. I am less stressed, and my life actually has real joy in it again.

It is deeply fulfilling to help others through your talent. But at the end of the day, your clients are just trying to make money, they don't care about you or your family. If you over-prioritize them, you return to your household stressed, turning the one place that is supposed to be your safety into a pressure cooker.

Your family is your foundation. They are the ones who accept you, support you, and stand by you.

I am choosing to make less right now. But in return, I am fully present, fully fulfilled, and building a home that actually feels like comfort and safety.
