#Walmart is dominating with #Gen Z consumers, and that fuels their growth today and tomorrow.
Based on Collage Group's proprietary cultural fluency measurement, Walmart resonates strongly across ALL generational consumer cohorts.
But here's what's interesting about Gen Z:
They are only on the cusp of their full purchasing potential.
Many are starting to buy homes, raise families.
So by locking Gen Z in now, Walmart already has embedded growth in their customer base.
#Target is not far off the mark - but they resonate less strongly with older generations that have maximized household purchasing power.
As you can see, #Kroger spikes with the important Millennial segment, but trails off with other segments.
All of these retailers have significant financial resources at their disposal to win deeply and broadly with multiple generational segments.
SO
➡️ If I am a retailer competing with Walmart, the question to ask is: "Why Walmart?"
What are they doing better than others, and what can we learn from them?
➡️ If I am a brand, I am asking: "If Walmart is so strong with Gen Z, how do we prove to them that our brands will build on that strength?"
How do we build cultural intelligence into our sell-in story?
This is why challenger brands with a uniquely Gen Z focus and resonance have such potential to steal share of shelf.
