👉 A costly mistake I see with auto campaigns:

Step 1: Launch

Step 2: Wait for Search Term Data

Step 3: Add Negatives

By then, you've already paid for what you knew wouldn't work.

➡️ Here's what's actually happening:

As you launch your Auto campaign,

Amazon starts serving your ads on thousands of search terms—some relevant, many not.

You check back in a week or two. Pull the search term report. Start adding negatives.

But here's the reality: adding negatives only after your campaign is live means you're burning budget on search terms you already know are irrelevant.

That's wasted spend and wasted time waiting for obvious data.

✔️ A more effective approach? Build your negative keyword & product list before you even launch.

I'd spend some time scanning the same places I'd look for target keywords:

- Amazon's suggested keywords

- Search Terms Report

- Keyword research tools like Helium 10

But this time, look for what "doesn't" fit.

Not every negative. Just the obvious ones. The terms where intent is clearly misaligned.

And likewise, the products within the category that are different but appear similar to the algorithm.

Add those to your negative list before launch.

➡️ What changes:

Your auto campaign still explores and discovers. But it's not burning budget on searches you already knew were a mismatch.

It's more scalable from the outset.

✅ Lower wasted spend. Cleaner data. Faster path to profitability.

If you haven't checked your auto campaigns lately, pull a search term report.

You might be surprised how many negatives you could've added on day one!
