When the Buy Box disappears in Q4, so does up to 82% of a seller’s revenue.

Every Amazon seller knows what the Buy Box is. Few understand how easily it can vanish.

The Buy Box, or Featured Offer, isn’t just the “Add to Cart” button, it’s a real-time algorithmic decision that decides which seller Amazon believes offers the best overall value for a customer. Price, fulfillment speed, inventory health, and account performance all feed into that decision.

But when Amazon suppresses the Buy Box, even temporarily, your listing effectively becomes invisible. Customers have to scroll, compare, or click deeper to purchase, and most don’t (let's be real, in Q4, no one has the patience for that).

What’s important to understand is that Buy Box suppression isn’t random. It’s systemic. Amazon uses it to balance pricing integrity and customer trust.

Here’s how it happens:

• Pricing variance ➡ If your offer exceeds what Amazon’s algorithm deems a “fair market price,” suppression can trigger automatically, even if your price hasn’t changed.

• Fulfillment gaps ➡ FBM or 3PL-fulfilled products that can’t meet Prime-speed expectations are increasingly flagged.

• Inconsistent inventory ➡ Frequent stockouts or unsynced quantities signal unreliability, affecting Buy Box eligibility.

• Listing accuracy ➡ Poor LSQ (Listing Quality Score), outdated attributes, or mismatched variations can all erode Buy Box confidence.

In other words, suppression isn’t punishment. It’s Amazon’s way of enforcing the marketplace it wants, fast, stable, and customer-first.

The challenge for sellers is that these rules evolve faster than most teams can track.

And when suppression hits, it rarely comes with an explanation.

That’s why at Carbon6, we’ve been documenting the mechanics behind Buy Box eligibility, suppression triggers, and recovery strategies in depth on our Carbon6 Blog, a space built for operators who need clarity, not generic advice.

From pricing compliance breakdowns to LSQ diagnostics and fulfillment benchmarks, the blog covers what’s actually changing inside Seller Central, and how to adapt before it affects your account.

Because in today’s marketplace, knowledge isn’t just leverage.

It’s visibility.
