AMZ Design Kit: rebuilt in 7 days, and now free
By George Barnett Reid 👀 · September 21, 2026 · Curated by George's Blog
Here's how most sellers do Amazon images.
They screenshot competitors for a week and pay a designer £500. Then they go back and forth for six weeks. What they get at the end has a headline nobody can read on a phone.
That isn't a design problem. It's an information problem. You can't brief what you can't see, and you can't copy what you can't measure.
So I spent the last 7 days fixing it. Then I made it free.
---
1. BEST RATED: WE MEASURED EVERY IMAGE
Until last week, AMZ Design Kit was a big library with no quality signal. You got 77,000 images and had to guess which ones were good.
Now every image with text is measured on four things:
- How big is the headline?
- How strong is the contrast?
- How much of the image is text?
- Can you still read it when it shrinks to a phone thumbnail?
We don't use an AI's opinion. We measure each image.
- 15,976 images pass.
- 4,770 "read at a glance", the top tier.
- Most of the rest fail.
Here's how bad it gets. I searched "shampoo" and got 358 scored images from brands like TRESemmé and Herbal Essences. Only 96 of 358 clear our readability bar. Just 26 read at a glance.
If brands with nine-figure budgets mostly miss the bar, your competitors are getting it wrong too. That's your opening.
Filter for Beauty and you get 1,280 readable images, 420 in the top tier. The winners share one spec: a headline about 8% of the image height, high contrast and 5 blocks of text. The losers cram in 11.
Your move: the gallery now opens on Best rated. Pick your category. You'll see what works in your niche in 30 seconds.
---
2. SWIPE: BUILD YOUR SWIPE FILE IN 10 MINUTES
This is the fastest way to use the library.
Set the gallery to your category and hit Swipe. You see one image at a time, full size. Tap yes or no. Every yes goes straight into your Likes.
In ten minutes you have a board of 50 images you'd actually steal. Most sellers spend a week of screenshots getting there.
It works on your competitors too. Import their listings and swipe through them.
Why it matters: most briefs fail because the seller can't explain what they want. "Make it look premium" means nothing. 50 yeses mean everything.
---
3. PROJECTS: THE BRIEF BUILDS ITSELF
Paste your ASIN into Projects. You get every slot on your listing: main image, gallery, brand story and A+. Your current image sits next to each slot.
Drag your liked images into the slots. Add a note. Put them in order.
Then send your designer one link. They don't need an account. They see what you want, slot by slot, with real examples.
Why it matters: this is where weeks of "can you make it pop more" disappear. Your designer gets it right on the first try because you showed them what right looks like.
---
4. THE PRICE IS ZERO
- The full library of 77,000+ images: free.
- Best rated scores: free.
- Swipe: free.
- The brief builder: free.
- 50 import credits to pull in your own listing and your competitors: free.
You don't need a card or a trial that bills you on day 31. Sign in with Google or an email code and you're in.
If you ever need more imports, buy a credit pack. The credits never expire, and there's no subscription.
This used to be a paid tool. It isn't any more. I'd rather you get the value and remember where you got it.

EVERYTHING ELSE WE SHIPPED THIS WEEK
Plug AMZ Design Kit into your AI
Connect Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor to the library in one line (amzdesignkit.com/mcp). Then ask it: "Show me the 10 best-rated comparison charts in Home & Kitchen and tell me what they have in common." It pulls the real images, the scores and the spec behind them. Then it critiques your images against that spec. It can read your brief too.
Why it matters: you get a design strategist who never sleeps, working from real data, at no cost.
You vs your 2 biggest competitors
Go to Start here, paste your listing plus 2 rivals, and hit go. You see every image in order, side by side. You also see the gaps. For example: they have a comparison chart in slot 4 and you don't.
Why it matters: the gaps in your listing show up in 2 minutes. An agency audit costs £300 and takes a week.
Every image a big brand runs
There are new pages for 311 brands, 3,696 full listings and 427 product niches. Open any brand and see its whole Amazon image stack in order, plus its A+ content.
Why it matters: you can copy the structure of a brand that spent six figures testing it.
The Wednesday Brand Drop
A weekly email breaking down the Amazon images of one household-name brand. Sign up on any brand page.
Why it matters: one proven playbook lands in your inbox every week, without you looking for it.
Smaller things that add up
- One address: everything now lives at amzdesignkit.com.
- Sign-in: Google or a 6-digit email code. No passwords.
- Phones: the gallery works properly on mobile now.
- Comments: you can comment on any example.
- Likes: heart any image in one tap.
- Home page: a new home page lets you browse by brand, image type and category.

AMAZON DESIGNERS: GET PAID WORK FROM SELLERS. FREE.
This one is for the designers reading.
amzdesignkit.com/designers is open. If you design Amazon listings, publish your work there for free.
- Free to list. There's no fee and no cut of your work.
- Amazon work only. Gallery images, A+ and brand stores. Sellers come here to hire someone who knows the platform, not someone who does logos.
- Proof, not promises. Add up to 12 work images, a short Loom walkthrough and your day rate. Client reviews are checked against the reviewer's company email domain before we mark them verified.
- Buyers arrive with a brief. Sellers are already using the library, swiping and building briefs. The brief builder produces the exact document you'd want from a client: every slot, the reference examples and notes.
You're live as soon as you upload your first piece of work. List yourself at amzdesignkit.com/designers/apply.
Hiring? Browse the directory, send your brief link and hire on proof.
