🚀 Why Amazon Launches Fail (Even When Everything Looks “Right”)

I see it all the time.

Brands come to me after spending thousands with agencies, wondering why their Amazon launches haven’t worked.

On paper, the basics are there:

👉 Listings look “good”

👉 PPC is running “ok”

👉 Agencies recommend A+ content

But A + B + C doesn’t always equal success.

Because Amazon isn’t about ticking boxes. It’s about joining the dots.

Here are two recent examples 👇

📎 Case Study 1 – Stationery Launch

This brand’s launch looked fine: listings, PPC, even plans for A+.

But results? 100% ACOS. Every ÂŁ1 in ads brought back ÂŁ1 in sales.

The real issue?

❌ Same price as everyone else

❌ No reviews

❌ No USP

They were asking buyers to take a risk with no reason to choose them.

👉 Their D + E was about bridging the gap:

🔹 Pricing psychology – use RRP, coupons, and deals to create perceived value + sales velocity.

🔹 Offer strategy – bundles and bulk packs for Amazon Business buyers to attract repeat, high-volume orders.

🔹 Test + scale – start with MFN, double down on winners before committing to FBA.

Would A+ content have fixed this? No. First we needed trust + value.

💊 Case Study 2 – Supplements Launch (US Market)

This brand went big.

They hired one of the world’s largest agencies.

Listings looked nice. CTR optimized main image etc.

But PPC after 2 months? 200% ACOS.

No ranking increases also or progress.

👉 $18k spend, $9k sales.

I know this agency. They’re world-class at PPC. The problem wasn’t targeting.

The real issue?

❌ A 3.7 star rating (category avg 4.4)

❌ Far fewer reviews than competitors

(also a long spammy title)

No amount of ad spend can outrun weak trust signals.

👉 Their D + E was totally different:

🔹 Review strategy – audit and remove unfair reviews (we found 6 we could remove), then rebuild via external traffic + funnels.

🔹 Launch pacing – run PPC slower until ratings improved, then scale.

🔹 External traffic – drive qualified buyers outside Amazon to support early review growth.

Again — A+ content improvement wasn’t the missing lever. This was a review problem, not a creative one.

đź’ˇ The Lesson

Amazon growth doesn’t come from doing more “tasks.”

It comes from spotting the D and E that make A + B + C actually deliver.

In stationery, D + E meant bridging the credibility gap with pricing + offers.

In supplements, D + E meant fixing reviews + trust before scaling ads.

👉 That’s why experience matters. Because no two launches fail for the same reason.

If this post feels familiar, let’s talk.
