Why do most Amazon FBA sellers fail?
I think one of the biggest problems is that people fall in love with their product idea before they ever look at the data.
And I get it.
You come up with an idea, you start thinking about the branding, the packaging, how you're going to sell it, and before you know it, you've convinced yourself it's going to be successful.
But here's the problem.
Just because YOU think it's a great product doesn't mean customers are going to buy it.
Jennifer and I launch 40 to 50 products a year. We've built an Amazon business doing over $20 million annually.
And guess what?
We've launched products that failed.
Plenty of them.
That's just part of being in business.
But the difference is that we've learned how to use data to make better decisions before we invest our money.
We're looking at demand. We're looking at competition. We're looking at keywords, pricing, margins, and whether there's actually an opportunity to bring something better to the market.
Because I don't want to launch a product just because I think it's a good idea.
I want the data to tell me there's an opportunity.
And I think that's where a lot of new sellers get it wrong.
They spend all their time trying to figure out how to sell a product when they should be spending more time figuring out whether they should sell that product in the first place.
You can't eliminate every risk. I don't care how experienced you are.
But you can stop making decisions based on guesses.
And that's something I wish more people understood before they spent thousands of dollars launching their first product.
If you're thinking about starting an Amazon business, here's my advice.
Don't start with the product.
Start with the research.
What's one thing you wish you had known before launching your first product on Amazon?
