I just miss you Adam Robinson
My last message to you on Sunday didn’t deliver, and I refused to believe it. My calls went to your voicemail. I knew before I knew, but I didn’t want to believe it... and I still don’t.
I truly thought you were going to be here with me forever. You told me on Friday that we would be working together for decades to come, and I felt the exact same way.
Not only were you my cofounder, but my best friend, biggest supporter, and my family. You have been the most positively consistent person in my life and in so many others.
I want to share my love and prayers with Adam and Helen’s parents, siblings Anthony Robinson, and Adam’s best friend, Amy Johnson. Adam and Helen were, and will continue to be, at the centre of our worlds. I love you.
In the 9 years since I met Adam, I watched him meet his beautiful wife, Helen, move to Austin, where he made amazing friends, get a dog he loved so much (Bonnie Rosa), become an incredible dad to Emma and Charlie, and recently, fulfill his dream of moving to Aspen.
Adam loved bringing his favorite people together whenever he could. His door was always open to visitors, and he made everyone in his personal and professional life feel welcome and loved.
He cared deeply about helping people propel their lives forward, and he believed one of the best ways he could do that was by helping people find success in business through sharing everything he was learning.
Success to Adam wasn’t actually about a number. It was about being fulfilled, loving how you spend your time, and surrounding yourself with people who lift you up.
He pioneered building a business in public. Adam wanted to build a community where he could help people grow and fulfill their own dreams. He put his heart and soul into his content and stood by his promise to his audience to always be authentic, even when it felt uncomfortable.
For a guy who knew so much, I loved how he entered every conversation engaged and ready to learn something. He admired people who, in his words, had “mastered their craft.”
Adam, Tate, and I started Retention.com (R!, RB2B & MoltSets) 7 years ago. I have read so many beautiful stories about the positive impact Adam made, and I want you all to know that so many of you had that same impact on Adam and our business. He talked about this daily. He was so grateful for everyone who helped us build.
Adam and I always said “talk soon,” knowing we’d be back on the phone within an hour. No matter how much we talked, I was so excited for his next call and the insightful nuggets he had to share.
Within minutes of finding out the news, I was already saying to Tate, Keleigh Spinner, Michael Cottenden, Kyle Standaert -“We need to keep building. Adam wants us to keep building. We need to make him proud.”
I miss you and love you so much.
This isn’t goodbye. It’s “talk soon.”
I promise we will make you proud, Adam. We are all so proud of you.
In honor of Adam and his beautiful family..
Keep building.
