CEO.
Your competitor appreciates the stockout.
Solo Amazon Operator.
⠀
I treat a stockout as paying to introduce my customer to a competitor.
⠀
You paid for the advertising.
Earned the first order.
Delivered a product they wanted again.
⠀
Then you weren’t there when they needed it.
⠀
They didn’t stop needing the product.
They bought someone else’s.
⠀
Getting inventory back doesn’t guarantee you get that customer back.
⠀
That’s why I look beyond today’s stock count.
⠀
What’s selling?
What’s already ordered?
When does it leave the factory?
When will it actually be available to buy?
⠀
“In transit” doesn’t help the customer trying to order today.
⠀
I keep a 6-month forecast by SKU and work with the team to adjust orders before the shortage becomes urgent.
⠀
And before I push advertising harder, I check whether inventory can support it.
⠀
The cost of a stockout isn’t just the orders missed this week.
⠀
It’s the repeat business you may have handed away.
