Launching new variants on a brand gets risky when shoppers cannot read the variant name.
Moju pushed ahead anyway with Zingy Ginger as per The Grocer article this week.
Look at the RHINO AI test on this pack:
MOJU (Brand) passes APCA contrast (Lc 98).
DIGESTION (Format) passes (Lc 63).
7x SHOTS (Count) passes (Lc 67).
The Variant? ❌ FAIL.
"ZINGY GINGER" scores an APCA contrast of just Lc 24.
APCA specifies Lc > 45 for large text readability. Lc 24 means it is not readable.
When you put yellow or orange text on a green background it might look stylish on a 32-inch designer monitor. On a mobile phone screen in the Tesco app or scrolling TikTok Shop, the variant is invisible.
Zingy Ginger might just become
"I have no idea what that flavour is but it looks like orange"...
AND the surprise will be when the online order arrives, and they pick up the physical pack for the first time.
Ouch, "Not what I thought I ordered" - reaction most of us have had before ordering from thumbnail images.
This MOJU packaging was not designed for screens.
The 4Ws framework exists for a reason: Brand, Format, Variant, Count. If any of those four fail, you introduce instant visual friction.
Unreadable is unbuyable.
Readability Drives Revenue.
Do not risk your new product launches by skipping the visual basics.
RHINO AI automates this upstream, long before artwork sign-off, using empirical data from the University of Cambridge AND proven experiments from the APCA contrast test for screens.

I hope it works. I am sure it's a very healthy product, but my pragmatic tip is to invest more in pack design testing for screens than only in R&D for formulation.
