Cigars, espressos and long conversations can only mean one thing… ☕🥃
For years, when people asked what my hobbies were, I didn’t really have an answer. I don’t play golf. I don’t fish. My weekends don’t look like most people’s.
It took me a while to realise I did have one. I just didn’t think it counted.
I love getting better at business. 📈
Going to summits. Sitting in rooms with people who are further along than me. Reading, training, asking questions I probably should already know the answer to. Long dinners that start with business and end up somewhere completely different.
And yes, a lot of the time I use my own holiday to do it.
Some people think that’s mad. For me, it’s the best time I spend all year.
Recently it was the Amazon Masters Summit. Good talks during the day.
But the real value came later, sat in a cigar lounge with a group of founders, swapping stories about what’s working, what isn’t, and what keeps us up at night. 🤝
No pitching. No egos. Just honest conversations.
I still switch off properly when I need to. But I’ve stopped feeling like I need to separate who I am at work from who I am outside it.
Turns out the thing I do for fun is the thing that’s made me better at what I do. 🚀
