Amazon's AI now tells 400 million shoppers what to buy. If it doesn't name your product, you don't get the sale.

On November 2, Amazon added 100+ new capabilities to Alexa for Shopping, its AI shopping assistant. Shoppers ask it questions in the Amazon app, and it compares products and suggests what to buy. It can even buy for them.

Amazon says 400 million customers used it over the last 12 months, and the number letting it take actions for them has grown more than 8x since the start of the year.

So millions of shoppers now ask an AI what to buy, and the AI decides which products to name. Amazon says it draws on product details and reviews.

If your product details and reviews don't give it a reason to name you, a competitor gets the sale.
